ABOUT OUR PHILANTHROPY

Arthritis

Alpha Omicron Pi’s international philanthropy is arthritis, and our philanthropy partner is the Arthritis Foundation. Since 1967, members and chapters have raised millions of dollars to fund research, provide resources, and support those affected by arthritis, a disease that disproportionately impacts women and also affects children.

AOII’s philanthropy dollars support several impactful Arthritis Foundation initiatives, including the Juvenile Arthritis Power Pack program, Juvenile Arthritis Camps, the Juvenile Arthritis Family Summit, and the 24/7 Helpline. Our Canadian sisters proudly support The Arthritis Society of Canada, furthering our shared mission to fight arthritis and improve lives.

OUR Local Efforts

We also are proud to support causes close to our home and our sisters’ hearts. We serve our local community through our four founders houses. Our members choose their house based on their passions and aspirations and bring new ideas to philanthropy and service each semester! Our Youth causes house supports youth and education, especially to support literacy and equity for all children. Our health house is for our sisters who are passionate about adequate and affordable healthcare and serving those in medical need, including seniors citizens. Our mental health and women's causes house, supports women and children seeking permanent housing, food stability, and healthcare resources. Our Environmental house cares deeply about keeping our beaches clean and supporting sea life and ecosystems, as well as supporting causes for a greener earth. In total, our four Founders Houses raised over $1,300 and completed over 1,400 volunteer hours!
